Blackjack rules allow a UK casino player to split a pair and play each as a separate hand. The number of allowable splits is determined by the house rules. Some allow splits after the first split, some don’t. When the player is dealt a pair, he shouldn’t automatically split the pair. The internet bingo player wants to come as close to twenty-one as possible without going over and has to beat the dealer. His actions should be based on what the pair is and on what the dealer is showing.

The rule of thumb is always split aces and eights. You can’t go bust in any way.  If you don’t split eights, you are sitting with sixteen. Any card higher than five makes you bust on the draw.  If you split, you have the chance of drawing an ace or ten and coming out with a nineteen or eighteen.  The same logic applies to aces. If you play the pair, you have two or twelve.  Your best chances of winning are by splitting the original pair.   Another blackjack rule of thumb is never to split ten point value cards.  You have twenty without the split and the dealer can only beat you with twenty-one.  Never split fives because you are beginning with a total of ten and can draw and card to improve. If you split the fives, and draw a ten value card, you have fifteen. Your next draw has to be a six or lower or you go over twenty-one.
